Our Technology
Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SCFE) Technology
- SCFE is rapidly gaining acceptance as the most preferred extraction technology the world over. This replaces conventional solvent extraction technology which is being edged out, owing to the problems faced in the solvent extraction process.
- SCFE process ensures that no harmful solvents, chemicals or chemical residues are present in the extract
- The extract retains the delicacy and the freshness, smell and taste close to natural which is most essential for the food, fragrance and pharmaceutical industries.
- SCFE is a Green technology and is very environmentally friendly and fully meets all Proposition 65 requirements.
- Satvayur's plant is based on technology from USA and is a best of breed fully automated PLC plant.

What products are possible with SCFE Extraction of Natural Products
- Spice Extracts (Oils and Oleoresins)
- Flavours and Fragrances
- Natural colours
- Herbal Extracts
- Natural Pesticides
- Cholesterol-free products
- Caffeine-free products
Why is SCFE process with CO2 better than other methods
- No loss of volatile components
- No use of environmentally damaging organic solvents and no solvent residues in the end products
- CO2 is inert, non-toxic and non-inflammable
- CO2 prevents oxidation and thermal degradation of the extracts
- CO2 contains no inorganic salts or heavy metals
- CO2 retards microbial/bacterial growth in the extraction process
- SCFE process with CO2 is an environmentally sustainable process
- SCFE process with CO2 is versatile since CO2 is selective in fractionation, i.e. Different products can be extracted at different pressures
- Does not extract pesticidal substances from primary flora
- Supercritical CO2 diffuses well in the substrate, providing a superior quality due to extraction of almost all active nodes
- CO2 is gaseous at room temperature and pressure, enabling a solvent-free end product to be recovered easily
- CO2 allows for extraction of compounds which are easily oxidised or are thermally unstable or thermally labile, since it can be operated at low temperatures. Also there is no thermal degradation of product
- CO2 is certified as GRAS (Generally Regarded as Safe) as per US FDA standards
